Greening Australia
BIRD: linking the biodiversity community
Greening Australia is a non-profit environmental organisation that works to deal with major Australian environmental issues including salinity, water quality, soil degradation, climate change, and biodiversity loss.
Greening Australia has more than 300 staff in 80 locations around the nation, and is a major provider of vegetation management and environmental education services, working with schools, community groups, local government, and business; providing training, planting and seed collection equipment, and supporting seedbanks.
Founded in 1982, Greening Australia was appointed by the federal government to oversee the non-govermental portion of the National Tree Program. It is responsible, among other tasks, for the Bushcare Support program, Bush for Greenhouse, National Corridors of Green, and (in partnership with Job Futures) Green Corps.
