BIRD: linking the biodiversity community

Andy Arnold has worked with the Victorian Department of Sustainability and Environment and its predecessors for over 35 years. In his early years Andy developed an interest in the management and conservation of native grasslands on the Western Basalt Plains. Andy later worked in coastal management followed by a few years in national park management. With the establishment of Conservation, Forests and Lands he further developed his interests in flora and fauna conservation eventually becoming Business Manager (biodiversity) and Project Manager for Conserving Threatened Species and Communities with DSE in the southwest. Andy now works part time as a Senior Biodiversity Officer and is actively involved with SWIFFT, the South West Integrated Flora and Fauna Team as convenor of SWIFFT quarterly video conferences. He continues to work on the Brush-tailed Phascogale Coordinating group and leads the annual survey and monitoring of the Brush-tailed Phascogale in the southwest. He is a member of the Spiny Rice Flower Recovery Team (representing SWIFFT). He is also involved with fire ecology through the Fire Ecology Working Group (FEWG) and the Regional Coordinating Group in SW Area.

Andy can be contacted during business hours on Wednesdays and Thursdays on (03) 5336 6720
